BOOM! Studios Launches
BOOM! Kids Children's Imprint For New Comic Book Line

Initial Releases Include Disney Licenses:
Pixar's THE INCREDIBLES and THE MUPPET SHOW

March 24th, 2009, Los Angeles, CA - BOOM! Studios today announced the launch of a new imprint, "BOOM! Kids", as a home for its child-appropriate publishing content. The company's new imprint includes its own website, www.boom-kids.com, also launching today. New releases written for younger readers include THE INCREDIBLES: FAMILY MATTERS, THE MUPPET SHOW COMIC BOOK, and CARS: THE ROOKIE. Each of these titles will be released under the new imprint.

The first issues under the new brand, based on already-solicited issues licensed by Disney, will be released March 25th in the Direct Market with THE INCREDIBLES: FAMILY MATTERS #1 (written by best-selling author Mark Waid) and THE MUPPET SHOW COMIC BOOK #1 (featuring writer-artist Roger Langridge of "Fred the Clown").

BOOM! Kids' titles will be serialized as individual 24 page comic books in Direct Market comic book collector shops first, then each four issue complete story will be collected into graphic novel trade paperbacks available in the mass market via Borders, Barnes & Noble and other outlets. This graphic novel format will be also available in the direct market as well.

"We designed BOOM! Kids to differentiate these books from the established BOOM! Studios line, so parents can easily identify age-appropriate material for their kids to read. The new imprint avoids sending children or their parents to the same web site that features some of our edgier fare, like IRREDEEMABLE or HEXED and the irreverent Adult Swim-like humor of SHMOBOTS," said Editor-in-Chief Mark Waid. "What's clear from the direct market sales figures is that these books are connecting to kids as well as adults, and as such, we wanted to provide a kid-friendly environment."

"But in the mass market and the direct market, where these books will be seen by children, the branding needs to align with other kids' content that we publish, from CARS to TOY STORY to MUPPETS to other BOOM! original works that we plan to release.
