Buzzboy Comics Contest for Kids Proves "Sidekicks Rule!"

Coinciding with Diamond Comics Kids' Month in August, John Gallagher is
offering up two--count 'em!--two full-color issues of the new Sky-Dog
Press miniseries, "Buzzboy: Sidekicks Rule!" Telling the fun and funny
story of the world's coolest super sidekick, Buzzboy:SKR #1 reprints
the already-classic Buzzboy Free Comic Book Day offering (for those who
missed it in May), with a cover by Mike Wieringo (Friendly Neighborhood
Spider-Man), while issue #2 continues the story with a cover by Howard
Porter (JLA, Trials of Shazam!). In addition, Gallagher has announced a
contest in which kids can create their own hero, with the winning
entries to be drawn into issue #3 of the miniseries. "Comics contests
and how-to's were my favorite part of comics as a kid," said Gallagher,
who writes, draws, and publishes Buzzboy's adventures, "this is just my
way of passing on the magic to a new generation of comics and graphic
novel readers."
Prizes in the Create-A-Hero Contest include the Buzzboy graphic
novels, original artwork and comic art supplies from DickBlick.com.
Entries for the contest are available at the Sky-Dog Press website
( www.skydogcomics.com ), and there are two eligible age groups: 5-11,
and 12-17, and winners will be announced at the Baltimore Comic-Con
September 9th, 2006. Sky-Dog encourages parents, librarians, teachers,
and retailers to print out the entry form, and encourage kids to start
creating! "Buzzboy is all about how it's fun to be a hero," added
Gallagher, "and it's just as much fun to create your own heroes, as I
can attest to! Good Luck!"

Buzzboy: Sidekicks Rule" #1 and #2 are in the June Diamond Previews,
for items shipping in August. Sky-Dog is also participating in the
Diamond retailer and reader Kids month Contest, offering graphic novels
and original Buzzboy art.
