Spider-Girl #96 - 2.99 This may not be a character you are familiar with, but the concept is a simple one – Spider-Girl is the future daughter of Spider-Man and Mary Jane. This is her story. ‘Nuff said.

From an email recently sent to me by Jeff Westhoff, Spider-Girl fan: You may know that Marvel plans to cancel Spider-Girl (again) with issue No. 100 (not due until August, I think). You may also know that her fans are trying to prevent this cancellation again.

Even though direct-market sales of Spider-Girl have been slipping, the digest reprints are doing huge business in the mass market and, according to Tom DeFalco, are particularly successful in school book fairs. Each digest has sold between 50,000 and 70,000.

If you agree that Spider-Girl is a character worth saving, I encourage you to join our campaign. You can learn more at a couple of Web sites: www.savespidergirl.com and www.comicboards.com/spidergirl  (I co-moderate the latter).

Good luck Jeff.

Fantastic Four Presents: Franklin Richards, Son of A Genious - Everybody Loves Franklin - 2.99 This is the ComicsInTheClassroom pick of the month. See the story on out homepage for a short write-up and downloads for a free online Franklin story from the first one-shot. This came out in February, but copies may still be available at your local comic shop - call ahead.

Marvel has books like Ultimate Spider-Man #91, Sentinel #5, listed for kids aged 9 and up. I would giving my own nine year old these books, but you should check them out yourself first.

Uptown Girl

Uptown Girl # 35 - 2.00 Uptown Girl is an independent comic by Bob Lipski. This is not a polished comic like the ones put out by the big companies, but I just read a stack of U.G. comics and I had more fun reading them than anything else this month. It is appropriate for any age, but would be better suited for middle school and up. You can order them at www.uptowngirlcomic.com. Also, read a recent Newsarama review of Uptown Girl #31.

Various Archie and Friends Double Digests – 3.59 (192 pgs)

Walt Disney's World of the Dragonlords Graphic Novel – 12.99 (176pgs) In this epic adventure Uncle Scrooge, Donald and the nephews are thrown into a Conan the Barbarian type world.

Various other Gemstone books available this month.

That's all for now. Happy reading folks.

Publishers: If I missed any of your all ages books, let me know.
